I torsdags var jag ledsen å Bryssels barers och restaurangers vägnar. Idag är jag närmast bedrövad….

…eftersom ledningen för Belgiens bästa ölfestival Zythos Bierfestival tog under gårdagen beslutet att även ställa in 2021 års evenemang.

Det sorgliga pressmeddelandet lyder som följer:

It’s with a heavy heart we inform you that there won’t be a Zythos Bierfestival in 2021.

Earlier this year, when we had to cancel the ZBF 2020 last minute, everyone was very disappointed. Nevertheless we were very excited to welcome you all back at the Brabanthal in 2021 to enjoy the Belgian beer culture twice as much.

Now, 6 months later, we regret to say that COVID-19 still has a great grip on our lives. Especially for the culture and events sector, there are uncertain times.

– Will it be allowed to organize a festival on this scale?

– Will our foreign visitors be allowed to travel to Belgium?

– Will we find enough volunteers to make sure everything runs smoothly?

Because we only want to organize a festival in optimal circumstances for you, but also for our exhibitors and our volunteers, we’ve decided, after long deliberation, not to organize a Zythos Bierfestival in 2021.

We hope that by April 2022 we will have resumed our normal lives. We will be starting preparations now, to make ZBF 2022 a fantastic edition, where everyone can enjoy the Belgian beer culture safely and 3 times as hard.

We may be out of sight for a while, but hopefully not out of your mind.

See you in 2022!

Nu håller vi tummarna att den pandemin försvinner och att vi åter kan besöka Leuven i slutet på april 2022. Tills vidare ska jag göra mitt yttersta för att ni ska kunna dricka mycket av de nya belgarna som släpps antingen på jobbet eller på någon av mina provningar…
